This week the spotlight is on our wee Fiona Roy of The Wee Pink Trailer. The Wee Pink is the most gorgeous coffee and cake horsebox trailer and is available to hire for weddings and events!
We just love Fiona and The Wee Pink, especially as she sources everything she serves from local suppliers. The Wee Pink coffee is sourced from Cairngorm Coffee and all of their cakes are supplied by As You Like It catering which is owned by Fiona's mum. We sampled both at the last unconvention and they were AMAZING!
Tell us a bit about you, the person behind the brand?
My name is Fiona and I am from Edinburgh. I love going out for dinner with friends but I also love cozy evenings in my pyjamas. I have recently added a new member to my family - my wee dog Daisy who is a cross between a Jack Russell and a pug (=a JUG!) she is so lovely but absolutely exhausting!! I love people and that's the beginning of why I started my business
How did your vision/passion begin?
I've worked in hospitality since I was about 16 and love the sense of community a cafe can bring. I always wanted to have my own cafe but only really started thinking about a horsebox since covid (probably like a lot of people). I love the idea of being able to hook it up to my car and take it to different places and meet different people
I also currently work for another company where I organise their wedding cakes and set them up which has introduced me to the wedding world and I just love meeting couples and hearing their stories!
What’s your favourite part of doing what you do?
I love meeting people! I really enjoy getting to bring a little bit of joy through caffeinating those around me! I absolutely LOVE my trailer and I often just look at it in disbelief that I get to do this!
What one piece of advice would you give to couples?
HAVE FUN! I know there is SO much to think about and it can be really overwhelming (I've done wedding fairs that I as a supplier feel really overwhelmed by the amount of choice) but you're celebrating your love so make sure you are enjoying yourselves and actually having a good time doing it and are choosing things that you love!
What attracted you to our alternative wedding fair?
I just love that you are passionate about the slightly "different to average"! Obviously, every wedding is unique to the couple getting married but I just love that there is a whole wedding fair celebrating the alternatives! I also love that you are so invested in each of your vendors and actually want to take the time to get to know them and not just here for the money!
Who is your biggest icon, and why?
What a great question! It changes often depending on what my life is doing.. I'd say currently though is someone I follow on Instagram (that's our world now, sad I know!) Her name is Em Clarkson and she has just taught me so much about being a strong woman (cheesy sorry!!) and also about why we view things in certain ways because of the media. What’s for dinner?
Another great question (I knew I liked you guys!) I actually haven't decided yet.. I'm fancying nachos or curry (Totally different tastes but there you go!) But I also might just have a good old baked potato (nice and fluffy) with baked beans and cheese. YUM.
Nachos sound amazing!
Fiona and the Wee Pink Trailer will be joining us again at the next uncon show on 1st December at The Drygate in Glasgow! You can purchase tickets here.
